The Basics

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding to people with permanent and significant disability to access the supports and services they need to live an ordinary life.

If you're eligible, the NDIS creates an individual plan for you that outlines your goals and the funded supports that will help you achieve them. You can use this funding with registered providers like Nesto Hub.

The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and is available to eligible Australians under 65 years of age who have a permanent and significant disability.

Over 600,000 Australians have an NDIS plan
Plans are reviewed annually or when circumstances change
You can use registered providers or self-manage with unregistered providers
Nesto Hub is a fully registered NDIS provider across all registration groups

Making the Most of Your Plan

Tips for Plan
Review Success

01

Document Everything

Keep records of your support needs, goals, and any changes in your condition. Good documentation leads to better plan outcomes at review time.

02

Know Your Goals

Your NDIS plan is built around your goals. Come to your planning meeting with clear, specific goals — and evidence of why certain supports are needed to achieve them.

03

Bring Support People

You have the right to bring a support person, nominee, or advocate to any NDIS meeting. A support coordinator or specialist can help you present your case effectively.

04

Request a Review Anytime

If your circumstances change significantly, you don't have to wait for the annual review. Request a plan review from the NDIA or through your LAC or Support Coordinator.

05

Use All Your Funding

Unspent funds don't roll over in the same way. Work with your support coordinator to ensure you're accessing the full value of your plan and not leaving supports on the table.

06

Ask for Progress Reports

Ask your providers — including Nesto Hub — for regular progress reports. These are valuable evidence for your next plan review and show the NDIA how your funding is working.

Frequently Asked

NDIS Questions
Answered

How do I find a registered NDIS provider?
You can search for registered providers on the NDIS website using the Provider Finder tool. You can also ask your Support Coordinator or LAC for recommendations. Nesto Hub is a fully registered NDIS provider — you can contact us directly to discuss how we can support you.
Can I change my NDIS provider?
Yes. You have the right to change your NDIS provider at any time, subject to the notice periods in your current service agreement. Most agreements require 2–4 weeks' notice. Nesto Hub handles the transition process and coordinates with your previous provider to ensure continuity of care.
What is a Service Agreement?
A Service Agreement is a written agreement between you and your NDIS provider that outlines the supports to be delivered, the price, how they'll be delivered, and your rights and responsibilities. Nesto Hub provides clear, plain-language service agreements that are fully compliant with NDIS requirements.
What if I disagree with my plan?
You have the right to request an internal review of your NDIS decision. If you're not satisfied with the internal review, you can apply to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) for an external review. We recommend working with a Support Coordinator or advocate for any review or appeals process.
What is a Support Coordinator?
A Support Coordinator is an NDIS-funded professional who helps you understand and implement your NDIS plan. They can help you find providers, set up service agreements, coordinate services, and prepare for plan reviews. Nesto Hub works closely with support coordinators and welcomes direct referrals from them.
How is NDIS funding managed?
NDIS funding can be managed three ways: Agency-managed (NDIA pays registered providers directly), Plan-managed (a registered plan manager handles payments), or Self-managed (you pay providers yourself and claim reimbursement). Nesto Hub works with all three management types.
What is a LAC?
A Local Area Coordinator (LAC) is a partner of the NDIA who helps people with disability access the NDIS, develop their plan, and connect with community supports. LACs typically support participants with less complex needs, while participants with more complex needs may receive Support Coordination funding in their plan.
How does Nesto Hub help with plan reviews?
Nesto Hub provides detailed progress reports aligned to your NDIS goals at any time — especially before plan reviews. Our reports document the support delivered, goals worked toward, and outcomes achieved, which helps the NDIA understand the value of your current supports and fund them appropriately going forward.
